Reba McEntire<\/strong><\/a> is extending her reign on The Voice<\/em><\/a> even as fellow judges John Legend<\/strong>, Chance the Rapper<\/strong> and Dan + Shay<\/strong> are exiled<\/a> in what insiders exclusively tell Life & Style<\/em> is a last-ditch effort by producers to keep the talent competition from being silenced by dismal ratings.<\/p>\n Though she\u2019s only been on the show for two seasons, Reba, 69, was the champion of the show\u2019s 25th season, having coached contestant Asher HaVon<\/strong><\/a> to the winner\u2019s circle last month.<\/p>\n \u201cThe Voice<\/em> is trying to usher in a new era and Reba is leading the charge,\u201d a TV industry source says. \u201cShe has become the linchpin of the show \u2014 it didn\u2019t take long for her to take over!\u201d<\/p>\n Not only is she Nashville royalty, but the \u201cI\u2019m a Survivor\u201d singer is a movie and TV veteran, having starred in her own sitcom, Reba<\/em>, and been a guest judge on American Idol<\/em>. So producers hope she\u2019ll help the show change its tune and hit the top of the charts once again.<\/p>\n The Voice<\/em> drew an average of only 5.4 million viewers in the just-wrapped season, barely half the audience the show had in 2020 and a far cry from the 15.7 million viewers it drew in 2012.<\/p>\n \u201cThe show is headed in the wrong direction and the producers are intent on shaking things up and reversing course to keep The Voice<\/em> on the air,\u201d the insider says. \u201cAnd with her ego and outsized personality, they feel Reba\u2019s the woman for the job.\u201d<\/p>\n Newcomers Michael Bubl\u00e9<\/strong> and Snoop Dogg<\/strong> will join Reba on the judges\u2019 panel next season along with veteran Gwen Stefani<\/strong>, who\u2019s served as a coach at several junctures in the show\u2019s history. The Voice<\/em> is where she met husband Blake Shelton<\/strong> \u2014 whom Reba replaced in the red chair.<\/p>\n \u201cThey figure with Gwen back on board, it will create some drama since she and Reba have butted heads in the past,\u201d the source shares. \u201cThere is hope Reba or another judge can finally foster a contestant who\u2019s going to win and hit the big time \u2014 and make the show buzzworthy again!\u201d the source says.<\/p>\n None of the winners in The Voice<\/em>\u2018s long history have gone on to a big music career \u2014 although country singer Morgan Wallen<\/strong> competed on season 6, only to be dumped by his coach Adam Levine<\/strong><\/a> before the season made it to the live rounds.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
