\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n Kevin Costner<\/strong><\/a> is looking back at Whitney Houston<\/strong><\/a>\u2018s death.<\/p>\n Kevin<\/strong>, 69, and the late \u201cI Will Always Love You\u201d singer became lifelong friends after starring together in the 1992 blockbuster The Bodyguard<\/em>. After Whitney<\/strong>\u2018s death at the age of 48 in February 2012, Kevin<\/strong> was one of eight people that spoke at her funeral<\/a>.<\/p>\n In a new interview, Kevin<\/strong> explained why he turned down CNN\u2019s request to shorten his eulogy at Whitney<\/strong>\u2018s funeral.<\/p>\n Keep reading to find out more\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/span>\u201cI had been working on this speech\u2026and I tried to compile everything I wanted to do and finally crafted this speech,\u201d Kevin<\/strong> recalled on Dax Shepard<\/strong><\/a>\u2018s Armchair Expert<\/em> podcast<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cSomebody said, \u2018CNN\u2019s here, they wouldn\u2019t mind if your remarks were kept shorter because they\u2019re going to have commercials,\u2019\u201d Kevin<\/strong> continued. \u201cAnd I said, \u2018They can get over that. They can play the commercial while I\u2019m talking, I don\u2019t care.\u2019\u201d <\/p>\n Kevin<\/strong>\u2018s eulogy ended up lasting 17 minutes, but he was initially hesitant to speak at Whitney<\/strong>\u2018s funeral. Whitney<\/strong>\u2018s cousin Dionne Warwick<\/strong><\/a> eventually encouraged Kevin<\/strong> to give a eulogy.<\/p>\n \u201cI could feel the weight on her, now it\u2019s shifted to me,\u201d Kevin <\/strong>said about speaking at the funeral. \u201cWhat am I going to say about this little girl? [I] went back to that church in Newark and it was filled. It was electric. There were two bands playing, the church was alive.
