Matthew Vaughn<\/strong><\/a> is sharing his thoughts on the negative reviews for his movie Argylle<\/strong><\/a><\/em> and how he was surprised by the response to the film.<\/p>\n The movie has a 33% on Rotten Tomatoes, though there\u2019s a much better audience score with a 72% rating. The movie brought in $96 million worldwide during its theatrical run and now you can watch it on Apple TV+.<\/p>\n Matthew <\/strong>discussed the reviews in a new interview.<\/p>\n Keep reading to find out more\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s a fun, feel-good movie, or I thought it was a fun, feel-good movie,\u201d he told Empire<\/a><\/em>. \u201cWe didn\u2019t make Citizen Kane<\/em>, but fucking hell, then the reviews came out and I\u2019m like, \u2018Wait, what have I done to offend these people?\u2019 They were vitriolic.\u201d <\/p>\n He added, \u201cI\u2019m not saying the movie\u2019s perfect by any means, but I didn\u2019t think it was offensive. That took me by surprise.\u201d <\/p>\n Matthew<\/strong> explained everything that led up to the release and how his expectations were high.<\/p>\n \u201cMy guard came down on Argylle<\/em>. We had done test screenings that had gone fantastically well. The premiere was a really fun night, and it was like going back to the Snatch<\/em> days where there was such excitement. And I started drinking the Kool-Aid,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n Matthew <\/strong>decided he needed to see reactions from regular audiences after reading the critics\u2019 reviews.<\/p>\n He said, \u201cI even went round to cinemas because I thought, \u2018Maybe I\u2019ve lost the plot now.\u2019 It did rattle me. I\u2019m genuinely scratching my head about that, because you can\u2019t ignore it. It wasn\u2019t like [just] a few bad reviews.\u201d <\/p>\n The response has changed with streaming though.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re doing very well on streaming. People are liking it. Nothing would make me happier than making another one,\u201d he said. \u201cI\u2019m getting texts saying, \u2018Wow, those reviews were fucking harsh!\u2019 The more we can get people to watch Argylle<\/em>, the more chance we make another one. I\u2019d love to make another one, we\u2019ve got it planned.\u201d <\/p>\n Fans thought that a very famous singer was the secret writer<\/a> of the movie. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n
