The \u201912 Years a Slave\u2019 actress, 41, revealed her relationship with TV host and actor Selema, 52, in December 2022, but 10 months later announced their relationship was over in an Instagram post.<\/p>\n
She has now told Glamour about why she decided to take to social media in October to say they had split: \u201cHonestly, the thought of having to update people one at a time was going to be harrowing.<\/p>\n
\u201cI had made the choice to share the relationship with the world, and I wanted to make the choice to share the end of it with the world. <\/p>\n
\u201cI knew that announcing it or sharing it with the world would mean there would be a reverb and I would have to deal with the onset of that.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cThere is a time to be open and there\u2019s a time not to be, and I chose that time to be open.\u201d<\/p>\n
\n\u2018Black Panther\u2019 star Lupita stressed she intends to be a lot more secretive about her private life in future.<\/p>\n
\nShe added: \u201cI\u2019m very happy with what I did, and I don\u2019t want to do it anymore. I don\u2019t want to share that part of myself anymore.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nShe announced her split from Selema in an Instagram post that said: \u201cAt this moment, it is necessary for me to share a personal truth and publicly dissociate myself from someone I can no longer trust\u2026 I find myself in a season of heartbreak because of a love suddenly and devastatingly extinguished by deception. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cI am tempted to run into the shadows and hide, only to return to the light when \u201cI have regained my strength enough for me to say, \u2018Whatever, my life is better this way.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
\nLupita quickly moved on with \u2018Dawson\u2019s Creek\u2019 actor Joshua Jackson, 45, with the pair spotted together at Janelle Mon\u00e1e\u2019s \u2018The Age of Pleasure\u2019 tour show at the YouTube Theater in Inglewood, California, the month she revealed her break-up.<\/p>\n
\nThe pair confirmed their romance in December 2023 by holding hands while walking in Joshua Tree, California.<\/p>\n
\nIn March, the pair were seen passionately kissing while celebrating her 41st birthday in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, though neither have spoken publicly about their romance.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
