Sophia Bush has marked the beginning of Pride month<\/p>\n
The former ‘One Tree Hill’ star revealed in April that she identifies as queer and is dating Ashlyn Harris, and she’s now shared a moving message of support for the LGBTQ+ community to mark the beginning of Pride month.<\/p>\n
She shared a message which read: “Pride is important because someone tonight still believes they’re better off dead than being themselves.”.<\/p>\n
She then added her own comment that stated: “You are perfect. No matter how long it might take, you’ll find your people. And they will help you find more and more of yourself. It’s worth it. You’re worth it.”<\/p>\n
Sophia discussed her new relationship in an emotional essay for America’s Glamour magazine earlier this year, in which she told how she fell for Ashlyn while the ex-US Women\u2019s International Soccer Team plater was dealing with her split from her fellow footballer wife, 38-year-old Ali Krieger.<\/p>\n
\nSophia said about how their romance was sparked when they attended the same support group: \u201cI didn\u2019t expect to find love in this support system. I don\u2019t know how else to say it other than: I didn\u2019t see it until I saw it.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cAnd I think it\u2019s very easy not to see something that\u2019s been in front of your face for a long time when you\u2019d never looked at it as an option and you had never been looked at as an option.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nSophia added things soon \u201cturned ugly\u201d as the pair started to face allegations they had been unfaithful to their partners \u2013 which Ashlyn has strongly denied.<\/p>\n
\nShe said: \u201cThe ones who said I\u2019d left my ex because I suddenly realised I wanted to be with women \u2013 my partners have known what I\u2019m into for as long as I have (so that\u2019s not it, y\u2019all, sorry!) <\/p>\n
\n\u201cThe idea that I left my marriage based on some hysterical rendezvous \u2013 that, to be crystal-clear, never happened \u2013 rather than having taken over a year to do the most soul crushing work of my life? <\/p>\n
\n\u201cRather than realising I had to be the most vulnerable I\u2019ve ever been, on a public stage, despite being terrified to my core?\u201d<\/p>\n
\nSophia and Ashlyn\u2019s relationship was first reported in October 2023, two months after the actress filed for divorce from businessman Grant Hughes.<\/p>\n
\nThe actress and ex-footballer \u2013 who has adopted children Sloane, three, and 21-month-old Ocean \u2013 made their first public appearance as a couple in March at Sir Elton John\u2019s annual Oscars party.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
