She\u2019s back! Kelly Clarkson<\/strong><\/a> announced the the album she\u2019s been working on since her 2020 split<\/a> from Brandon Blackstock<\/strong> <\/a>will finally drop soon.<\/p>\n \u201cIt is officially time to tell you that I\u2019ve been working on this project for for close to three years now. I wasn\u2019t sure I was going to release it, but I am,\u201d the songstress, 40, revealed in a video via Twitter and Instagram<\/a> on Sunday, March 26.<\/p>\n The Kelly Clarkson Show<\/em> host, whose last entirely original album dropped in 2017, revealed that her new LP is called Chemistry<\/em>.<\/p>\n New music soon \ud83c\udf77\ud83d\udc94\u2600\ufe0f pic.twitter.com\/c9mPNchiE2<\/a><\/p>\n \u2014 Kelly Clarkson \ud83c\udf77\ud83d\udc94\u2600\ufe0f (@kellyclarkson) March 26, 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n \u201cIt\u2019s called Chemistry<\/em> because I was trying to find a word \u2014 also, it might be one of the songs on the album \u2014 that really described the whole thing,\u201d Clarkson explained. \u201cI didn\u2019t want everybody to think I was just coming out with some \u2018I\u2019m angry,\u2019 \u2018I\u2019m sad\u2019 \u2014 just one or two emotions. This album is definitely the arc of an entire relationship. A whole relationship shouldn\u2019t be brought down to just one thing. So there\u2019s the good, the bad, and the ugly kinda thing going on in it.\u201d<\/p>\n The Texas native added that she also appreciated the double-edged sword nature of that intense spark in a relationship. \u201cChemistry can be a really amazing, sexy, cool, fun thing, but it can also be very bad for you. So that\u2019s why I named it Chemistry<\/em>. I thought it was the perfect title to describe the entire album.\u201d<\/p>\n She didn\u2019t reveal a release date, but Clarkson promised that new music was on the way. \u201cWhen I say soon, I mean really soon,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n The singer concluded: \u201cI\u2019m so happy. I\u2019m nervous, but I\u2019m excited about putting it out.\u201d<\/p>\n Clarkson and Blackstock, 46, called it quits in June 2020 after nearly seven years of marriage. The \u201cSince U Been Gone\u201d singer filed for divorce at the time, citing \u201cirreconcilable differences\u201d as the reason for the split.<\/p>\n The Voice<\/em> coach and her estranged husband \u2014 who share daughter River Rose, 8, and son Remington<\/a>, 6 \u2014 had a messy split amid the legal proceedings, which included a lengthy battle over a Montana property<\/a>. Clarkson was legally declared single<\/a> in September 2021, and their divorce was finalized<\/a> six months later.<\/p>\n The daytime TV personality revealed in September 2022 that she\u2019d recorded much of her next album<\/a> when she was newly single but held off on releasing it until she processed her emotions.<\/p>\n \u201cWhen my ex and I first separated, there were many emotions. It was hard. My producer and I were laughing yesterday because I was like, \u2018Remember that time we wrote, like, 25 songs in a week?\u2019 A lot of those are the ones that are on the album,\u201d Clarkson told Variety<\/em><\/a> at the time. \u201cI literally wrote most of these almost two years ago. Then I told my label, \u2018I can\u2019t talk about this until I\u2019ve gone through it,\u2019 and it\u2019s just taken some time to do that. That\u2019s one of the reasons we\u2019ve done a lot of Christmas stuff the past two years \u2014 because I was like, \u2018Well, that\u2019s happy!\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n She added that her new album is an emotional one \u2014 so personal that she considered not releasing it. \u201cI hadn\u2019t really been working hardcore on an album until I needed to. \u2026 But then the whole divorce thing happened, and I needed to write it,\u201d Clarkson said at the the time. \u201cAnd then I didn\u2019t know if I was going to release it, because you can be very angry in that state of mind. So some of the songs, they definitely cover the gamut of emotions; there\u2019s everything on the album. It\u2019s almost like the arc of a relationship, because the beginning is so beautiful and so sweet, and then it evolves. And sometimes it doesn\u2019t evolve how you want.\u201d<\/p>\n\n
