While Kwame Appiah<\/strong><\/a> was excited to find The One on\u00a0Love Is Blind<\/a>\u00a0<\/i>season 4, his messy love triangle with Chelsea Griffin<\/strong><\/a> and Micah Lussier<\/strong><\/a> sparked backlash from critical viewers.<\/p>\n \u201cWaking up to some really nasty messages, so I\u2019ll share 1 with you all,\u201d Kwame, 33, captioned a Saturday, March 25, Instagram<\/a> video, revealing he was called the N-word by a social media user. \u201cYou\u2019re all entitled to your opinion, and reflection on the show. But, waking up to multiple messages like this, is NOT OK. Things like this are inhumane<\/a>, and we\u2019ve gotta do better.\u201d<\/p>\n He added: \u201cYou are getting to watch a sliver of my life and judge me. Based off the purely disgusting and hateful words<\/a> I\u2019m seeing, it could be an issue with me, but it\u2019s also definitely an issue with you.\u201d<\/p>\n The Ghana native \u2014 who noted his intention to take a social media hiatus<\/a> following the online hate \u2014 is one of the\u00a0Love Is Blind\u00a0<\/i>participants<\/a> on season 4, which dropped the first five episodes on Friday, March 24. Kwame quickly sparked pod connections with both Chelsea, 31, and Micah, 27.<\/p>\n While the sales development manager was ready to propose to the marketing manager<\/a>, she eventually \u2014 albeit quickly \u2014 broke things off in order to pursue her romance with Paul Peden<\/strong>, who popped the question on proposal day. Kwame, for his part, went back to Chelsea after realizing she had been steadfast in her support, and they got engaged as well.<\/p>\n While the former soccer player and Chelsea began exploring their steamy physical connection<\/a> after meeting in person, Micah seemingly felt sad about shutting down their bond.<\/p>\n \u201cI, like, love [Paul] so much but I had such a hard time equating [his voice and face], but with you, I feel like it fits like a little glove,\u201d she confessed to Kwame during the cast trip to Mexico in the fourth episode. \u201cI really do care about you as a person and the connection we made. I still, like, think about you [and] I hope the best for you. I just want you to be happy.\u201d<\/p>\n Chelsea, however, was not pleased to see her fianc\u00e9 and Micah continually chatting for long periods of time \u2014 while Kwame caressed the former realtor\u2019s hand. After watching the two exes speak, several social media users vocalized their dislike for his actions.<\/p>\n \u201cOpinions on me that\u2019s OK, but there are definitely levels that shouldn\u2019t be breached,\u201d Kwame explained in his Saturday upload. \u201cThat\u2019s when opinions that you have go to deeper levels of hate, racism and bigotry. I think that just crosses a line that shouldn\u2019t be and it\u2019s disgusting that people think it is OK to do this and hide behind the agenda of just \u2018caring about a TV show.\u2019 Like, I\u2019m human, I make mistakes just like you make mistakes.\u201d<\/p>\n Kwame was quickly supported by several of his pod buddies, including Zack Goytowski<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cPlease send some love to the men and women of color on our show. You never know what someone is going through,\u201d the 31-year-old criminal defense attorney\u00a0\u2014\u00a0who was briefly engaged to Irina Solomonova<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0\u2014\u00a0wrote via Instagram Story on Saturday, resharing Kwame\u2019s initial post. \u201cThere are people out there who will use anything as a pretext to spread hate. But really they just have an issue with mixed [race] couples. [Kwame] is an amazing man: Humble, accomplished and he has a huge\u00a0\u2764\ufe0f<\/span>.\u201d<\/p>\n
