Scheana Shay<\/strong><\/a> broke her silence about the Vanderpump Rules<\/em><\/a> season 11 backlash by discussing the meeting with producers that changed the course of the show.<\/p>\n

During the Friday, May 31, episode of her \u201cScheananigans\u201d podcast<\/a>, Scheana, 39, addressed claims that an offscreen conversation with producers pushed cast members to interact with Tom Sandoval<\/strong><\/a> after his cheating scandal with Rachel \u201cRaquel\u201d Leviss<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a whole season of feeling like we all kind of had to walk on eggshells. I know [executive producer] Alex Baskin<\/strong> has said that midseason, the show was not in a good place,\u201d Scheana claimed. \u201cIt was, you know, \u2018X, Y and Z needs to happen. Or we\u2019re going to have a short season and the show\u2019s going to be canceled and that\u2019s it. Go live your lives.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

The conversation affected how Scheana and Lala Kent<\/strong> approached the rest of the season. \u201cI think Lala and I felt a lot of pressure after that day when it was like, \u2018Well, we don\u2019t want the show to get canceled,’\u201d Scheana added.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tSeason 11 of Vanderpump Rules documented Tom Sandoval\u2018s post-scandal apology tour \u2014 which has been met with mixed reactions. Sandoval was at odds with most of his costars when news broke in March 2023 about his affair with Rachel \u201cRaquel\u201d Leviss. After Sandoval and Ariana Madix\u2018s nearly decade-long relationship came to an end due to [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Season 11 of Vanderpump Rules picked back up three months after Sandoval\u2019s affair made headlines. While most of the cast initially sided with Ariana Madix following her split from Sandoval, their loyalties shifted as they kept filming<\/a> the rest of the season.<\/p>\n

Baskin, meanwhile, spoke to The New York Times<\/em> for a February profile of Sandoval<\/a>, 41, that mentioned the changes that happened behind the scenes.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs filming for the new season got underway, Bravo had a problem. The cast had turned on Sandoval; Madix refused to interact with him altogether. In July, Baskin and the network brought the cast into Evolution\u2019s offices for what he called a \u2018Come to Jesus\u2019 moment,\u201d the article read. \u201cBut he was no longer talking to 20-something waiters. \u2018We can still squeeze a great season out of it,\u2019 he said, \u2018But going forward, I don\u2019t know.’\u201d<\/p>\n

Scheana elaborated on what made her more willing to forgive Sandoval<\/a> on screen.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s a crew of 80 to 100 people who work on this show. And I said this at the reunion \u2014 which you didn\u2019t see \u2014 but I was like, \u2018I feel like we\u2019re doing our jobs also for all of these people. We want to keep this going.\u2019 And so when someone does just walk away, they don\u2019t care if the show ends, it\u2019s not just about us,\u201d she continued on Friday. \u201cThere\u2019s so many more people that do rely on this, and that\u2019s where it just got really hard because I\u2019m like, I do understand and respect your boundaries, but it just made it really difficult.\u201d<\/p>\n

After the season 11 reunion wrapped up on Tuesday, May 28, Scheana and Lala, 33, were under scrutiny for the way they pressured Ariana, 38, to film with Sandoval. Lala has since issued a statement apologizing for the way she spoke about fans<\/a> when they questioned her behavior. Scheana, meanwhile, largely stood by her decision to fight for the future of Vanderpump Rules.<\/em><\/p>\n
