That\u2019s the truth.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And it\u2019s also a problem. In the candid interview, the Oscar winner told the publication that he and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lifeandstylemag.com\/posts\/kevin-costner-christine-baumgartner-lashing-out-amid-divorce\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">his then-wife, <strong>Christine Baumgartner<\/strong><\/a>, mortgaged a beachfront parcel he owns in Santa Barbara.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTen acres. I said, \u2018It\u2019s a good deal.\u2019 And she said, \u2018Yeah, one more and we\u2019re out of business,\u2019\u201d the actor joked about gambling his own money on his passion project.<\/p>\n<p>Still he denied that his single-minded determination to realize his dream of a four-part Western had anything to do with the 2023 demise of his 20-year marriage. Yet an insider tells <em>Life &amp; Style<\/em> the handbag designer was \u201cso terrified they\u2019d wind up broke,\u201d she decided to cut her losses.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-caption alignnone\">\n<div class=\"ratio-based-placeholder\" style=\"padding-bottom:66.75%;\"><\/div><figcaption class=\"photo-credit\"><span class=\"credit\">Pascal Le Segretain \/ Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cAt least that way she got what the prenup guaranteed her,\u201d notes the source, \u201cand didn\u2019t have to sit around watching Kevin gamble away all his cash.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But for the dad of seven, there\u2019s no glory without pain.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s the message I want my kids to understand about who I am: that I do what I believe in,\u201d he told <em>GQ<\/em>, adding, \u201cI have fear like everybody else. I don\u2019t want to be humiliated.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And he pointed out, his family had a home, they weren\u2019t going to lose that. As for the beachfront parcel he mortgaged?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI mean, it\u2019s OK, maybe I lose that.
