A <a href=\"https:\/\/storage.courtlistener.com\/recap\/gov.uscourts.cand.419113\/gov.uscourts.cand.419113.52.0_2.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">legal document<\/a> filed on Thursday shows that Musk waived his right to appeal <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/legal\/us-federal-court-enforces-secs-subpoena-depose-elon-musk-2024-05-14\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a court order<\/a> that requires him to testify.<\/p>\n<p id=\"o9oJX8\">This means Musk will have to appear at one of the SEC\u2019s offices for an up to five-hour interview. The document says Musk and the SEC have already agreed to a date, but it\u2019s not disclosed \u201cfor confidentiality purposes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"i0IzJB\">In 2022, the SEC opened an investigation into Musk\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2022\/5\/27\/23144536\/sec-elon-musk-twitter-disclosure-inquiry\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">failure to properly disclose his stake in Twitter<\/a>. But the SEC filed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2023\/10\/5\/23905307\/elon-musk-sec-testify-lawsuit-subpoena\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a lawsuit against Musk<\/a> last October after he refused to testify in the agency\u2019s probe.
