Lily Allen, 39, shared in a recent interview with The Sunday Times<\/i> that she and her husband, David Harbour, control what apps they can each have on their phones. “I now have a kids\u2019 phone called Pinwheel. It has no browsing capability and no social media, but you can still have Uber and Spotify,” Allen explained.<\/p>\n
“My husband is the caregiver on it, so he controls what I\u2019m allowed to have as an app on my phone. I\u2019m the controller of his as well,” she continued. <\/p>\n
She shared that the phone even requires them to be listed as each other\u2019s parents.<\/p>\n
\u201cBecause they\u2019re made for kids, he\u2019s [listed as] my parent and I\u2019m his parent.\u2018 What\u2019s your child\u2019s name? David, aged 50,\u2019\u201d she joked.<\/p>\n
Allen went on to explain why she had made the decision to use a phone designed for kids, rather than a regular smartphone.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe creative side of my brain has been ruined by smartphones. I feel like everyone feels the same,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t know anyone who could possibly say that the quality of their life is improved by the presence of a smartphone. I think it\u2019s destroyed us as a species. It\u2019s horrendous that they\u2019re designed to be so addictive. Some of us have more addictive personalities than others. It\u2019s evil.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t think, as human beings, that you\u2019re meant to share ideas and for them to be set in stone,\u201d she continued.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are meant to evolve as people. How are you meant to do that if you\u2019re always held to account by things that you\u2019ve said in the past? I said that 20 years ago when I was a completely different person, hadn\u2019t been married, didn\u2019t have children. Of course, I had a different outlook on life. Don\u2019t hold me to that.\u201d<\/p>\n
