Snoop Dogg<\/strong><\/a> is staying neutral when it comes to the ongoing rap beef between Drake<\/strong><\/a> and Kendrick Lamar<\/strong><\/a> \u2014 but he does think the feud is doing good things for the genre.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe only thing I want to say about that whole scenario is that I want to give both of them a shoutout for raising the bar as far as lyrics, as far as song-making and writing because the writing has been upped since the confrontation or whatever you call it, whatever they went through,\u201d Snoop, 52, told Entertainment Tonight<\/em><\/a> in an interview published on Tuesday, May 28. \u201cThose are my nephews. I\u2019m not in the middle of it. I support both of them and that\u2019s personal business, not my business.\u201d<\/p>\n

The rapper praised both Drake, 37, and Lamar, 36, for what they\u2019ve done for the industry. \u201cThey made you rap again,\u201d he said. \u201cYou can\u2019t mumble your way and gimmick your way to a song no more, buddy. So, thank y\u2019all.\u201d<\/p>\n

Drake and Lamar have been at odds since 2013 when Lamar took shots at the Degrassi<\/em> alum on Big Sean\u2019s<\/strong> \u201cControl.\u201d The two have continued to throw subtle shade at each other ever since, but things hit a fever pitch in March when the duo began to release multiple diss tracks<\/a>, accusing one another of various allegations like domestic abuse and sexual assault.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\u00a0 The beef between Drake and Kendrick Lamar has many people, including some A-list stars, talking about hip-hop. The clash between the two rappers came to a head when Metro Boomin teamed with Future \u2014 who\u2019s worked frequently with Drake in the past \u2014 for We Don\u2019t Trust You and We Still Don\u2019t Trust You, [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Despite Snoop\u2019s persistence in staying neutral amid the music battle, Drake released the song \u201cTaylor Made Freestyle<\/a>\u201d in April, which once again took aim at Lamar \u2014 and featured AI verses from Snoop and the late Tupac Shakur<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut still, you gotta show this f\u2014king owl who\u2019s boss on the West \/ Now\u2019s a time to really make a power move,\u201d fake Snoop rapped on the song. \u201c\u2018Cause right now it\u2019s looking like you writing out the game plan on how to lose \/ How to bark up the wrong tree and then get your head popped in a crowded room.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fake Snoop added, \u201cWorld is watching this chess game, but are you out of moves?\u00a0 \/ Dot, you know that the D-O-G never f\u2014king doubted you \/But right now it seem like you posted up without a clue of what the f\u2014k you \u2019bout to do.\u201d<\/p>\n

Snoop, for his part, took to social media to share his confusion over the verses after the song hit the airwaves.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey did what? When? How? Are you sure?\u201d he joked in an Instagram video as he appeared on screen. \u201cY\u2019all have a good night and to all \u2026 Why everybody calling my phone, blowing me up? What the f\u2014k? What happened? What\u2019s going on?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m going back to bed. Good night,\u201d he added, captioning the post, \u201c\ud83e\udd37\ud83c\udffe\u200d\u2642\ufe0f\ud83c\udfa4\ud83d\udc40\ud83e\udd23\u23f0 \ud83e\udd16.\u201d<\/p>\n

Snoop isn\u2019t the only musician to weigh in on the drama, and not everyone agrees it\u2019s been good for music. Stevie Wonder<\/strong> reflected on the feud on earlier this month, telling TMZ that \u201cany kind of war is bad for the world.\u201d Wonder also said that he has \u201cno bad feelings\u201d toward either of the rappers and thinks this hip-hop tiff is taking attention from more important issues.<\/p>\n
