The family of slain <\/span>General Hospital<\/em><\/a> actor <\/span>Johnny Wactor<\/a> is in mourning after the star <\/span>was fatally shot in Los Angeles, California, on Saturday<\/a>. He was 37.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n On Tuesday, Wactor’s mother, Scarlett, and two brothers, Lance and Grant, appeared virtually on\u00a0<\/span>Good Morning America<\/em><\/a>\u00a0to address <\/span>the tragic loss<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n “They took a wonderful person,” Scarlett said.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Added Lance, “The worst part is just not being able to have a conversation with him again. That’s one of my best friends.”\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Meanwhile, Grant said that the family had been left with “an emptiness that doesn’t get filled.”\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Good Morning America<\/em><\/a> reported that a LAPD homicide investigation is currently underway, as officials told the outlet they are gathering surveillance footage from nearby streets.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Wactor, who was best known for\u00a0his role as Brando Corbin on the long-running soap opera, <\/span>was killed early Saturday morning<\/a> during a suspected catalytic converter theft in downtown Los Angeles.\u00a0<\/span>TMZ<\/em><\/a>\u00a0<\/span><\/i>was first to report the news after talking with his mother.<\/span><\/p>\n Grant later told\u00a0<\/span>The Daily Mail<\/a>\u00a0<\/span><\/em>that Wactor was finishing a bartending shift and was leaving the establishment with an unidentified female coworker when they saw the thieves around his vehicle. <\/span>He said\u00a0that the actor first thought his car was being towed<\/a>, but soon realized what was happening and stepped in front of his coworker to shield her with his body.<\/span><\/p>\n Scarlett previously told\u00a0<\/span>TMZ\u00a0<\/span><\/em>that her son\u00a0did not attempt to fight or stop the men, but they shot him anyway.<\/span><\/p>\n The retelling of events matches the description of an incident shared by the Los Angeles Police Department. Cops told\u00a0<\/span>local news outlets<\/a>\u00a0that a man — who is not named — was shot around 3 a.m. PT near Pico Boulevard and Hope Street. He was transported to a local hospital and later pronounced dead. The thieves fled the scene and have not yet been apprehended.
