Yippy-tai-yai-what? Christine Taylor<\/strong><\/a> and David Lascher<\/strong><\/a> may not have played love interests on Nickelodeon\u2019s Hey, Dude<\/em>\u00a0<\/span>\u2014 but their offscreen relationship was a different story.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cYou are my first real love, it was full of teen angst and everything you can imagine,\u201d Lascher, 50, told Taylor, 51, during the first episode of their \u201cHey Dude \u2026 The \u201990s Called!<\/a>\u201d Podcast on Sunday, December 11. \u201cYou and I bonded over humor, laughter and I just remember we would just make fun of everyone and everything in a lighthearted way. We just laughed for two years straight.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Lascher and Taylor starred as Ted and Melody, respectively, on the \u201990s hit comedy from 1989 to 1991. The series followed a group of friends as they work together at a dude ranch and face the ups and downs of adolescence.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n While their characters never crossed paths in a romantic context on screen, the actors themselves sparked quite a romance when the cameras turned off. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n In October 2014, the cast reunited during the ATX Festival in Austin<\/a>, telling fans that \u201cnobody dated\u201d during the show\u2019s four-season run. However, the Zoolander<\/em> star and the Blossom<\/em><\/a> alum decided to \u201cown it\u201d after starting their rewatch podcast.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI was nervous to even ask you if wanted to talk about it, but we\u2019re both happily married and we\u2019re adults,\u201d Lascher said during Sunday\u2019s episode. \u201cBut yea, we were hot and heavy.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The twosome explained that the cast, who stayed at a hotel in Tucson, Arizona, during the three years of filming, were essentially \u201cliving on their own\u201d as teenagers. Their unique situation allowed them to bond \u201clike a family.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI know you, no matter how many years have gone by. We know each other and it\u2019s a comfortability,\u201d the Sabrina the Teenage Witch<\/em><\/a> actor said. \u201cYou and I had a friendship that was above and beyond anything else.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The Dodgeball<\/em> star, for her part, revealed that while the duo are good pals again now, working together became difficult following their breakup.\u201c[It] was not fun. I have memories of you being really angry with me during certain episodes,\u201d she quipped, before adding that she took \u201cfull responsibility\u201d for their split.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI was terrible. I was non-confrontational and had no idea how to talk or deal with it,\u201d the Pennsylvania native said.<\/span><\/p>\n While the twosome\u2019s romance may not have lasted forever, they both found love elsewhere after Hey, Dude<\/em> came to an end. The Two of a Kind<\/em> star tied the knot with\u00a0wife\u00a0<\/span>Jill London<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0in 1999 and the couple share three kids: Hannah, Casey and Chelsea.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Taylor, meanwhile met husband Ben Stiller<\/strong><\/a> in 1999 while filming a TV pilot titled Heat Vision and Jack<\/em>. The couple tied the knot less than a year later<\/a> and went on to star in multiple projects together over the years. In 2002 and 2005, they welcomed daughter Ella and son Quinlin, respectively.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n After 17 years of marriage, the twosome announced they were calling it quits in 2017<\/a>. Two years later, however, they made waves at the 2019 Primetime Emmy Awards as they smiled for photos on the purple carpet. They were also seen looking \u201chappy\u201d and never leaving \u201ceach others\u2019 sides,\u201d an eyewitness exclusively told\u00a0<\/span>Us Weekly<\/span><\/em>\u00a0<\/em>at the time.<\/span><\/p>\n Taylor and Stiller remained tight-lipped about their relationship status, with the Friendsgiving<\/em> star noticeably dodging a question\u00a0about whether they were officially back together in October 2018. \u201c<\/span>We\u2019re a big family. We\u2019re together all the time,\u201d she exclusively told Us<\/em>. When pressed about her seemingly \u201cnice\u201d post-split relationship<\/a> with Stiller, the\u00a0<\/span>Search Party<\/span><\/em>\u00a0actress responded, \u201cIt\u2019s wonderful, it\u2019s wonderful.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n In February 2022, Stiller revealed to<\/span>\u00a0Esquire<\/span><\/em><\/a> that the pair were officially back together after he moved home amid the coronavirus pandemic.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cWe were separated and got back together and we\u2019re happy about that.
