Bonnie Tyler‘s fans lined the streets of her hometown to pay tribute to the late singer on Saturday (15.08.26).

The Total Eclipse of the Heart singer passed away in Portugal on 8 July, weeks after she was placed in an induced coma following emergency intestinal surgery, but her body was returned to the UK for her funeral, which will take place in south Wales on Monday (17.08.26).
The memorial procession travelled through the streets of Mumbles to Bonnie’s home, Fernhill, and the crowd applauded as the hearse went past, with many singing her hit Total Eclipse of the Heart in tribute and throwing flowers onto the bonnet of the vehicle.
The coffin inside the car was draped with the Welsh flag and accompanied by a framed photo of the singer, whose real name was Gaynor Hopkins.
Information about the procession was released by William Pressdee Funeralcare on behalf of Bonnie’s family, who will say their goodbyes in a private service.
The statement read: “Resting at William Pressdee Funeralcare, Mumbles until she returns to her home, Fernhill, on Saturday 15th August at 3.30pm – those who wish to pay their respects are invited to line Newton Road, Mumbles from 3.15pm.
“A Celebration of Gaynor’s life will be held at Swansea Minster (St. Mary’s Church) on Monday 17th August at 12noon.
“Gaynor will then return to her ‘hometown,’ and travel through Skewen at approximately 1.20pm en route to a private family service of committal and farewell.”
Fans have been invited to donate to the Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital for Wales and Cerebral Palsy Cymru – charities which the Holding Out for a Hero hitmaker was a patron of – instead of sending flowers.
The funeral firm added: “Her legacy lives on in the timeless songs that made her a legend.”
Bonnie’s death was announced on her official website.
A message shared online read: “Bonnie’s family and team are heartbroken to announce that Bonnie unexpectedly passed away last night in hospital in Portugal as a result of the illness that she was being treated for.
“We will issue a further statement shortly but for now ask for privacy to deal with this tragedy.”
Bonnie is survived by her husband of more than 50 years, Robert Sullivan.
