When a Friend Designs Your Wedding Dress: Mel C Gets Married in a Victoria Beckham Dress

In short, an exceptional “something borrowed” for her first fateful “I do”: the ivory lace slip dress came from none other than Beckham’s own wardrobe. And for the second part of Mel C’s wedding? Once again, it was Posh Spice who stepped up to design her dress: “I obviously offered to make her dream dress.”

The starting point was always the slip dress worn for the civil ceremony: thin straps, an open back, all enhanced not only by a delicate train but also by hand-applied vintage floral lace details. A very simple look in line with what Mel C wanted, as well as with Beckham’s style: “Melanie is quite minimalist and didn’t want anything too fussy, conceptual or overly complicated.”

No sooner said than done: the perfect dress for a “quite low-key; relaxed, romantic and chic” ceremony, shared with close family and friends. And speaking of guests, could the Spice Girls possibly be missing from the bride’s side? Of course not.

Together, almost like in the old days, they posed for the photographer: Mel B wearing a short, draped pink dress studded with sequins; Geri Halliwell-Horner in a more delicate, long white dress embellished with eye-catching, colorful flowers; and Emma Burton sporting a light pink plaid ensemble paired with a pair of platform wedges.

A lovely scene, steeped in nostalgia, in which only one person is missing: Beckham. Although, deep down, she’s there too—not physically, but through her stunning dress.
