Amid an ongoing public rift involving her eldest son Brooklyn Beckham, Victoria, 51, the former Spice Girls member turned fashion designer, made the remarks during an appearance at the Time100 Summit in New York City.
Victoria, whose career spans pop stardom in the 1990s with the Spice Girls and a later transition into a globally recognised fashion label, was asked how she manages persistent media attention.
Her comments come as renewed focus remains on tensions within the Beckham family, following public statements made by Brooklyn, 27, about his relationship with his parents David, 50, and Victoria, and his marriage to Nicola Peltz Beckham, 31.
Reflecting on life in the spotlight, Victoria said about chatter around her life in the spotlight: “This has been happening since I was 20, so it’s been going on a long time. I have an incredible husband who supports me enormously. We’re always there for each other. And I learned a long time ago to really not listen to the noise, not focus on the noise.”
She added: “Someone’s always going to have something to say. I focus, and I just don’t pay attention to it, if that makes any sense. Someone else will deal with it. I don’t want to know. That’s how I handle it, I suppose.”
The remarks follow a period of heightened public attention on the Beckham family, driven by Brooklyn’s explosive social media statements about his family he made earlier this year.
In posts shared on Instagram, Brooklyn addressed ongoing tensions with his parents, writing: “I have been silent for years and have made every attempt to keep these matters private. Unfortunately, my parents and their team have continued to go to the press, leaving me with no choice but to speak for myself and tell the truth about only some of the lies that have been printed.”
He added: “I do not want to reconcile with my family. I’m not being controlled, I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life.”
The situation has continued to draw widespread attention, particularly given the Beckham family’s longstanding prominence in both entertainment and sport.
David, a former England football captain, and Victoria have been among the most recognisable public figures in Britain for decades, with their children frequently appearing in the media spotlight.
When asked about Brooklyn in a recent interview with The Wall Street Journal, Victoria declined to address claims about her family rift directly, instead emphasising her approach to parenting.
She said: “We’ve always tried to be the best parents that we can be. And you know, we’ve been in the public eye for more than 30 years right now, and all we’ve ever tried to do is protect our children and love our children. And you know, that’s all I really want to say about it.”
