The couple’s youngest son celebrated his birthday on Thursday (23.04.26) and to mark the occasion, a montage of footage from a recent trip to Cornwall was shared on their official Instagram account.

In the video, Louis could be seen running on the beach, playing cricket, digging a hole in the sand and jumping into the sea.

The footage was captioned: ‘Thank you for all the birthday wishes for Prince Louis. 8 is great.(sic)”

Earlier in the day, a photograph of the young prince taken by Matt Porteous was released to mark Louis’ birthday.

It appeared to have been taken during the same holiday, with Louis posing with his arms crossed on a boat, wearing a half-zip fleece from Boden.

It was captioned: “Happy birthday, Louis! 8 today![balloon emoji] (sic)”

William recently described his youngest son as a “character” who loves to “wind up” his older siblings, Prince George, 12, and 10-year-old Princess Charlotte.

Asked during a visit to the Sunningdale branch of the Women’s Institute in September if his youngest son was “a handful”, William replied: “He’s a character but he’s a very good boy, he really is. He likes to wind his brother and sister up.

“When George is behind closed doors it’s a completely different ballgame

“George just knows how to behave, that’s the difference. There’s five years between them, I think you’ll see the difference (as Louis gets older).”

The Prince of Wales also revealed Louis is “obsessed” with trampolining and he and Catherine encourage all of their children to stay active.

Speaking to Eugene Levy on his Apple TV+ series The Reluctant Traveler, he said: “Louis loves the trampoline, so he’s obsessed with trampolining and actually Charlotte does a lot as well.

“As far as I can tell, they just end up jumping up and down on the trampoline, beating each other up, most of the time. Apparently, there is an art to it.

“Charlotte does her netball as well, and her ballet, and so keeping them busy with sports and being outdoors is really important.

“They’re trying to learn musical instruments. I’m not sure how successful we’re being with that. George loves his football and his hockey.”
