    Mike Meyers Dons Shrek Makeup to Help Honor Co-Star Eddie Murphy With AFI Life Achievement Award

    Mike Meyers gets into character as his iconic character Shrek at the AFI Lifetime Achievement Award: A Tribute Celebrating Eddie Murphy held at Dolby Theatre on Saturday (April 18) in Los Angeles.

    The 62-year-old comedian and actor was one of many who were on hand to help honor Eddie Murphy, who is the recipient of the award this year.

    Other stars stepping out for the event included Stevie Wonder, Martin Lawrence, Kevin Hart, Jerry Bruckheimer, Jennifer Hudson, Tracy Morgan, Gizele Oliveira, Robert Townsend, Skye Townsend, Autumn Durald Arkapaw, Karen Pittman, Eva Longoria, Sugar Ray Leonard, Spike Lee, Michael‘s Nia Long, Colman Domingo and Jaafar Jackson, David Alan Grier, Keenan Thompson, Bill Burr, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Judge Reinhold, Arsenio Hall, Belle Akroyd, Keegan Michael Key, Dave Chappelle and Chris Rock.

    While the event took place this weekend, it was being filmed and is expected to premiere on Netflix on May 31st.

    “AFI is grateful to Ted Sarandos and the talented team at Netflix for the opportunity to share this proud tradition with the world,” Bob Gazzale, AFI President and CEO, shared in a statement. “And to do so in honor of Eddie Murphy will allow us to shine a proper light on the impact of art at a time the world needs it most.”
