Meghan Trainor is breaking her silence on all the backlash she has been facing following the birth of her third child.
Back in January, the 32-year-old “Made You Look” singer and husband Daryl Sabara announced birth of their third child, a baby girl named Mikey Moon, via surrogate.
During her appearance on the April 9 episode of Kylie Kelce‘s Not Gonna Lie podcast, Meghan detailed the joys of welcoming another child and also addressed the backlash she faced for using a surrogate.

“She was just a champ,” Meghan gushed, adding that she could be “more present” after Mikey was born because she wasn’t recovering from a C-section.
However, after publicly sharing the baby news, Meghan noticed that a lot of people took issue with the fact that she used a surrogate.
“I was like, ‘Oh, they hate me now. They ain’t going to like this,’” Meghan recalled thinking at the time. “And it was a cloud of tears every night of just worry. I want my daughter to come to this world and not have everyone attack her for the way she got here. And all of that went through my head. But my team was with me, my therapist is with me … Everyone was so supportive.”
“And this was the healthiest way,” she continued, adding that the negative response “didn’t damper anything,” and that she was in “baby bliss.”
Daryl also stayed positive after the backlash, reminding Meghan that her real fans will always defend her.
“My husband’s like, ‘Honestly, if anyone says stupid s–t your fans come and defend you,’” she said.
Meghan admitted that she found certain criticism baffling, like when some moms “got mad” at her for wearing a hospital gown after Mikey‘s birth.
“When I did skin to skin, they were like, ‘Why would you pretend like you gave birth?’ And I was like, ‘What?’” she recalled. “‘So they’ve never been in a hospital. Like, they don’t know anything about what’s going on.’ And then when I heard they thought I named her ‘via surrogate,’ I was like, ‘Okay, I know who I’m dealing with now. I really don’t care about their opinion.’”
Kylie agreed, saying, “I think the important thing to remember is that you made a very intentional decision to grow your family.”
The mom-of-four added, “You have the most beautiful baby girl now and … You didn’t have to compromise your own health to be able to achieve that. And ultimately, you guys are happy and healthy, and that’s what matters.”
Meghan previously explained why she used a surrogate to welcome her daughter, admitting it wasn’t the couple’s “first choice.”
