HBO Max is bringing out some of its biggest original shows in April, and this is definitely the best time to be a subscriber.
One of the very first HBO Max originals, Hacks, is concluding, but it would have still made our list even if it were going on forever.
That’s just the first series among Watch With Us‘ picks for the three must-watch HBO Max shows you need to stream in April 2026.
Our remaining picks include a long-absent HBO drama and an enigmatic new miniseries.
‘Hacks’ (2021 – Present)
Deborah Vance (Jean Smart) can’t be funny. That’s not a bit in Hacks season 5. Deborah paid a very high price when she and Ava Daniels (Hannah Einbinder) quit their late-night comedy show. Now, Deborah is locked into a very onerous non-compete clause that won’t allow her to perform comedy. In the trailer for the new season, Deborah tells the press that she could be thrown in jail if she tells a joke in public, and that might not be an exaggeration.
The one thing it isn’t is the end of Deborah’s journey. Hacks will be concluding at the end of the season, and there’s still time for Deborah to reclaim her comedic legacy before the end. It’s less clear where Ava’s story will go. Her writing career was in the toilet when she met Deborah, and it’s been through some extraordinary highs and lows since. Can Ava make her own way in Hollywood? Or is she willing to finally move on and try something else?
Hacks season 5 is now streaming on HBO Max.
‘Euphoria’ (2019 – Present)
If you were wondering if Rue Bennett (Zendaya) got her life in order during the long hiatus between Euphoria season 2 and season 3, the latest trailer put that to rest. If anything, Rue is in deeper trouble than ever before and she’s now working as a drug mule to smuggle narcotics into the United States. And if she manages to get out of that mess, her old dealer, Laurie (Martha Kelly), has come to collect on a debt that Rue can’t afford to pay.
High school is over, and no stint in rehab is going to make Rue’s current problems disappear. Her sponsor and friend, Ali (Colman Domingo), appears to be in some medical distress. Meanwhile, Nathan Jacobs (Jacob Elordi) and Cassandra Howard (Sydney Sweeney) are still together after the show’s time jump, but a happy ending for that couple is probably just as much a long shot as Rue’s eventual fate.
Euphoria season 3 will premiere on HBO Max on April 12.
‘Half Man’ (2026)
Richard Gadd‘s follow-up to Netflix’s Baby Reindeer is a miniseries called Half Man, and there are still only a few things we know about it despite its premiere in a few weeks. The story is going to jump back and forth between the past and the present, as the relationship between Ruben (Gadd) and his brother, Niall (Jamie Bell), comes to a violent turning point at the wedding of the latter.
According to the show’s description, Niall and Ruben didn’t meet until they were teenagers in the ’80s, which doesn’t make a sibling relationship impossible. But it does suggest that they may be only half-brothers or even stepbrothers. Until we actually get to see the show, we won’t really be able to define their relationship. That might be true for the characters themselves as well. They’ve been linked together by 40 years of personal history, but their familial bonds may be irreparably broken.
Half Man will stream on HBO Max on April 23.
