Zach Bryan has publicly apologized to his fans in Tulsa, Oklahoma, after claiming he was “forced” to cancel a concert.
“To my fellow Oklahomans, I am being forced by my team to cancel the show tonight due to the threat of extreme and dangerous weather,” Bryan, 30, announced via X on Friday, April 3. “I’ve never canceled a show in my life but I unfortunately don’t have a choice in the matter.”
The “Pink Skies” singer was supposed to headline a two-night run at the H.A. Chapman Stadium in Tulsa on Friday and Saturday, April 4, along with support acts Trampled by Turtles and J.R. Carroll.
While Friday’s concert has been canceled outright, Bryan clarified in his statement that Saturday’s gig in Tulsa “is still set to proceed as planned.”
“We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding,” he tweeted.
The musician also attached a text exchange where an unidentified member of his team explained why they needed to call off Friday’s live show.
“I know you’re gonna hate me for this, but we have no choice but to cancel the show,” the staffer wrote to Bryan. “I just had a meeting with the police, school and meteorologists and the consensus is that we would be putting people’s safety at risk by trying to put on the show.”
The musician’s staff member included a forecast from a meteorologist predicting “severe storms for Tulsa” with wind gusts “in excess of 60 mph, heavy downpours, hail and lightning,” as well as a chance for tornadoes. The National Weather Service has issued a “severe thunderstorm warning” that will remain in effect until 10 p.m. local time on Friday.
Bryan seemed upset by the assessment, responding, “Are you kidding?”

The country star later indicated via his Instagram that he would have preferred to move forward with the concert despite the severe weather warnings.
“[Five] years of touring I’ve never cancelled a headlining show,” he complained. “I pissed off plenty people this morning trying to ‘play anyways.’ If I had ANY say in this, things would be different. I apologize and I love all of ya.”
Fellow country music star Tyler Childers tried to convince Bryan he was doing the right thing by canceling the event, writing, “Better safe then [sic] sorry brother.”
“Can you imagine not canceling and that amount of people with no place to go when there’s a tornado rolling through. You just literally never know what could happen,” reality star and influencer Jess Turnquist pointed out.
Any fans affected by Friday’s concert cancellation can receive refunds by following the instructions in Bryan’s tweet.
The Oologah, Oklahoma, native kicked off his With Heaven on Top Tour in St. Louis at The Dome at America’s Center on March 7. He is set to remain on the road throughout the spring and summer, before wrapping up the tour in Auburn, Alabama, at Jordan-Hare Stadium on October 10.
The With Heaven on Top Tour is by far the biggest of Bryan’s career, as he’s headlining stadiums and being supported by the likes of Kings of Leon, Alabama Shakes, folk-country artist Gabriella Rose and neo-soul singer Dijon Duenas, among others.
It has been a busy year for Bryan, as he recently confirmed he’d tied the knot with his girlfriend Samantha Leonard on New Year’s Eve 2025.
Meanwhile, fellow country artist Brantley Gilbert opened up exclusively to Us Weekly last month about where he stood with Bryan amid their feud. Bryan seemingly poked fun at Gilbert by parodying Jason Aldean’s hit single “Dirt Road Anthem” — which Gilbert sang on and cowrote — and changing the chorus lyrics to “chili on a hot dog.”
“In today’s society, our social climate is so freaking extreme. We’ve lost the ability to have conversation, have some fun,” Gilbert told Us in March. “I’m not mad at anybody. I know he feels differently about some things politically than I do, I’m sure, which is fine. That doesn’t make me hate anybody. It is what it is. A lot of us think about things differently. I think we’re just maybe in a hurry to be angry about things sometimes.”
He went on, “I don’t have any hate for the dude. We may have differences of opinion, but I don’t know. That ain’t enough for me to hate anybody or any of that stuff. I’m not out looking for trouble either. I’m a husband and a dad of three. I don’t really have time for bulls***.”
