Peaky Blinders fans are headed back to Birmingham with a totally new cast.

March 2026’s Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man put an end to Tommy Shelby’s (Cillian Murphy) story 13 years after the show debuted on BBC. Tommy’s death came as a shock to viewers but it also allowed for his son Erasmus “Duke” Shelby to lead Birmingham’s most vicious gang going forward.

While Barry Keoghan took on the role of Duke for the Netflix movie, the actor made it clear that he would not be returning for anything else in the Peaky Blinders universe.

“It’s a lot to follow Tommy Shelby. I don’t even want to attempt that,” he told Variety in March 2026. “But Duke is a different sort of Shelby.”

Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight hinted that a spinoff was in the works during a February 2025 interview with BBC Breakfast.

“It’s not over, let’s just put it like that,” he teased. “I’m not allowed to announce it, but I’m just saying that the world of Peaky will continue.”

After the March 2026 Peaky Blinders movie, fans started to speculate that the next iteration of the franchise would follow Duke. BBC confirmed in April 2026 that the new spinoff would be set in the 1950s — a decade after The Immortal Man film — and showcase the aftermath of World War II on Birmingham.
