Amazon has had some modest box office successes to date, but this weekend’s Project Hail Mary pulled in $80.5 million, taking the number one spot at the box office and shattering its previous opening weekend record of $58 million for Creed III. Project Hail Mary outperformed expectations, perhaps in part due to excellent word of mouth and good reviews, and scored the biggest opening of 2026, outpacing February’s Scream 7. Internationally, it picked up $60.4 million for a total take of $140.9 million. It has a $200 million budget, so it will need to stick around in theaters for a while to justify its price tag, but it is off to a great start.
Second place belonged to the box office champion of the last two weekends, Hoppers, which brought in $18 million this weekend, for total sales so far of $120.4 million domestically and $242 million worldwide.
In the third spot was Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge, which opened in less than 1000 theaters but earned $9.5 million. This is now the biggest Bollywood film opening in North America.
Ready or Not 2: Here I Come came in fourth place in its opening weekend, pulling in $9 million domestic and $2.8 million internationally, for a total of $11.8 million. The film performed slightly ahead of its predecessor, but slightly below expectations, with a budget of $20 million.
Rounding out the top five at the box office was Reminders of Him, which pulled in $8 million in its second weekend of release. With a budget of $25 million, it has made $33 million domestically and $54 million worldwide.
