Captain Jason Chambers is opening up about the Below Deck Down Under and Real Housewives of Salt Lake City crossover.
If you recall, the Housewives were the first charter on this season of the Below Deck spinoff, while their own part aired on RHOSLC‘s recent sixth season.
While appearing on The Kelly Clarkson Show this past week, Captain Jason opened up about how the crossover first came about and shared what it was really like having the ladies on board.

“I hung out with Heather [Gay] and Whitney [Rose] down in Australia. We had a Bravo event for a week and they run up and wanted to do a charter with us,” he said. “We talked about it down there and it all came into fruition. And look, they were so funny down in Australia, both of them. They were like comedians together and I thought this is just going to be like a whole charter of happiness. It was nothing like that at all. It was totally opposite.”
“It was earplugs and, usually you have a primary charter guest and everyone’s like sitting back waiting for them to kind of [make the decision], not trying to show their true self,” he continued. “No, this was the whole boat was primary guests and as soon as one put their head up, the other one wanted to get higher.”
However, Jason acknowledged that despite all of their own drama aboard the yacht, the ladies treated his staff well.
“But it was fun. At the end of the day they were really, they’re so polite to all the crew,” he shared. “They had their own thing going on but around us, they were just so nice to us and I think it gave them a good insight from another reality show that, ‘Oh wait, this is real reality that they’re doing. They’re actually working, hard.”
The BDDU and RHOLSC made Bravo history as the first ever crossover between the two reality franchises, where we got to see the charter from both sides!
The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City recently faced a tragic death, pausing production for a week on the show’s upcoming seventh season.
