Zendaya and her stylist, Law Roach, based the artistic direction of their new collaboration for the premiere of The Drama on a famous saying: “Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.” They’re the four elements a bride-to-be should wear on D-Day, according to an Old English nursery rhyme that has become a popular maxim. Directed by Kristoffer Borgli, The Drama, stars Zendaya opposite Robert Pattinson as an engaged couple in the midst of wedding preparations, whose relationship is put to the test after a startling revelation. To promote the film on red carpets, Zendaya indulges in method dressing, the art of dressing as a tribute to a character or the world of the film.

For the Los Angeles premiere on Tuesday, March 17, the Euphoria star chose a splendid white Vivienne Westwood gown worn with Chopard jewelry and ivory pumps. She previously wore this bridal piece 11 years ago, on the 2015 Oscars red carpet. “I was thinking with [Law Roach] about how I might dress for this film, and I remembered the saying, ‘Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue,’” she explained to Variety. “So I thought I’d bring [this dress] back up to date. [The 2015 Oscars ceremony] was such an important moment for me, for my community, for my loved ones, and it just seemed fitting. As it just so happens to be a wedding dress, the timing was perfect.”
