“The script is extraordinary,” he told Deadline on the red carpet. “I think it’s going to be a really, really special movie and very, very different, even from the last one.”

“I was reading [the script] and like, ‘Oh wow! Okay,’” he continued. “It’s going to be interesting to see it come out. It’s taking some big swings.”

Robert‘s co-star Colin Farrell, who plays Oswald “Oz” Cobb/The Penguin, also teased the script a few months ago.

“I had many thoughts to share with Matt about the script. I really do think it’s a masterwork. Kind of a contemporary genre masterwork,” he shared on the Happy Sad Confused podcast. “It’s so brilliant, and Robert has got such a lovely journey to go on and take the audience through.”

“It’s dense, it’s really really intelligent, it’s so deep and detailed. I’m saying too much,” Colin added. “I think he’s going to make an extraordinary film.”
