Hilary Duff is addressing her canceled series, How I Met Your Father.
The 38-year-old actress and “Future Tripping” singer starred as the lead in the Hulu sequel series as Sophie, before it was canceled in fall 2023 after two seasons.
In a new interview promoting her new music, she was asked who she thinks the father was.

“That was so sad that we got canceled during the strike. It was horrible,” she said on the latest episode of Mythical Kitchen‘s “Last Meal” series.
Hilary then shared her thoughts on who the father of her character’s future child was.
“It’s um… I was gonna say Jason Segal,” who starred in the original How I Met Your Mother. Then, she noted, “A lot of people said it was Suraj [Sharma, who played Sid], and I was like whoa, that’s a hot take, because that would be like sleeping with my… well, actually, I can’t even remember what some of those were about.”
“I don’t know who the father was,” she continued. “I don’t think it was any of the people in the room. It was gonna be like an extra walking by. I know we started the season by being like, ‘The father of my child is in this room.’ But I don’t think it was any of the main characters. I think as the season progressed, we would have zoomed in on an extra in the background, and it would’ve been that person later in life.”
Hilary then poised, “Maybe Kim Cattrall knows!”
If you recall, Kim played the older version of Hilary‘s character narrating the story, much like how Bob Saget voiced the older version of Josh Radnor‘s Ted Mosby in the original series.
Also on that episode of Mythical Kitchen, Hilary spoke about the challenges of growing up a child star in Hollywood and being managed by her mom, Susan.
