A flying cell phone, five stitches, and a request for an urgent care clinic with a casino.

Riley Green’s second sold-out show at Margaret Court Arena in Melbourne turned into one of the wildest concert moments of the year on March 14.

The 36-year-old country singer was mid-performance on the Australian leg of his Cowboy As It Gets Tour when a fan’s phone struck him in the side of the face. He had a guitar in hand and was about to speak into the microphone when the phone came flying from the crowd.

What happened next? He kept playing.

A TikTok video captured by a fan in the audience shows Green absorbing the hit and shaking it off fast.

His first move was telling his crew to turn the lights up so security could locate the person responsible. He directed security to remove the fan from the venue.

The crowd proceeded to boo the fan who threw the phone.

As Green picked his guitar back up, blood was visibly streaming down the side of his face from his ear. A crew member rushed over with a towel to wipe it off. Green leaned into the microphone.

“Am I bleeding?” he said. “Y’all see how tough I am?!”

He played through the rest of the set.

Green’s post-show social media response turned a painful incident into something his audience could follow in real time. In an Instagram Story, he shared a photo of his stitched-up earlobe with a brief update: “5 stitches later … sewed up.”

In a separate Instagram Story, he floated the idea of passing out anti-theft phone chains at his next show to prevent another phone-throwing incident.

He also posted a TikTok video showing him receiving medical attention backstage.

When the medic suggested stitches, Green countered with his own treatment plan: pierce the bandage with a stud. Or, alternatively, throw some Elmer’s glue on it.

When the medic recommended visiting a nearby urgent care clinic, Green asked if there was one with a casino in it.

Green didn’t cancel the rest of his set. He didn’t issue a statement through a publicist. He cracked jokes while getting medical attention and gave his audience a front-row seat to the aftermath.

He continues the Australian run of his Cowboy As It Gets Tour with two shows at Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion on March 16 and 17, followed by a co-headlining slot at CMC Rocks QLD in Ipswich, Queensland on March 20.
