Donald Trump recalled a key planning meeting for his ongoing war in Iran, saying that at one point he was “falling asleep” during it. However, something came along that woke him back up.

Trump referenced the operation’s name — “Operation Epic Fury” — saying that it was “a great name” but adding a caveat.
“Well, it’s only good if you win,” he said. “And we’ve won. Let me tell you, we’ve won. You know, you never like to say too early you won. We won. We won the bet. In the first hour it was over, but we won.”
He then shared a story about when it was time to name the strike, saying that he was presented with “a list of names” by a general to choose from. Although he had around 20 options, most of them were boring him.
“And I’m like falling asleep,” he said about scanning the list. “I didn’t like any of them. Then I see ‘Epic Fury.’ I said, I like that name. I like that name.”
The president frequently references the “Epic Fury” while discussing the war. In 2025, he ordered a strike on three nuclear enrichment plants in Iran. The operation was named “Operation Midnight Hammer.”
Earlier this week, Trump offered a confusing explanation of how the war was both “very complete” and just beginning.
