‘Friends Like These: The Murder of Skylar Neese’ (2026)

Hulu’s latest true crime documentary series, Friends Like These: The Murder of Skylar Neese, kind of gives away the identity of the killers, but not the motive. Skylar Neese was best friends with Shelia Eddy and Rachel Shoaf until she disappeared at age 16. At first, no one suspected Neese’s closest friends of harming her, but the only shreds of evidence led right back to Eddy and Shoaf.

Once the killers are exposed, the documentary attempts to make sense of the crime and explain why the relationship between the trio became so fraught that the other two decided to murder Neese. It’s a disturbing and tragic story, and a chilling example of friendship gone wrong.

    ‘Civil War’ (2025)

Writer and director Alex Garland‘s Civil War envisions a near-future in which America has fractured into factions fighting for what’s left of the United States. Kirsten Dunst leads the cast as Lee Smith, a veteran war photographer who is traveling across the nation with another journalist named Joel (Wagner Moura) and a rookie photojournalist, Jessica Collin (Cailee Spaeny).

The word is out that the President (Nick Offerman) may soon be removed from power, and the trio wants to get there in time to cover the event themselves. What they find along the way are some of the most harrowing examples of tribalism and failed humanity as people tear each other apart and irreparably shatter the country’s bonds. Dunst’s husband, Jesse Plemons, has a particularly chilling cameo as a militia member who is all too eager to murder anyone who doesn’t fit his definition of a citizen. This is a very dark movie, but it’s an engrossing experience.

    ‘Ratatouille’ (2007)

Before Ratatouille was released in 2007, there were stories in the press that openly predicted it would be Pixar’s first-ever flop. Pixar and director Brad Bird not only proved everyone wrong, they also turned Ratatouille into one of the most beloved films in Pixar’s library on its way to winning the Oscar for Best Animated Feature. Patton Oswalt lends his voice to Remy, a rat with a refined sense of smell and a taste for human food who dreams of becoming a chef.

Remy gets a chance to live out that dream when he encounters Alfredo Linguini (Lou Romano), a young worker at the famous restaurant once owned by Remy’s idol, Chef Auguste Gusteau (Brad Garrett). With some practice, Remy and Linguini work out a way to communicate that lets the rat make all their cooking choices. However, Linguini’s boss, Skinner (Ian Holm), is openly suspicious about Linguini’s newfound cooking skills, and he’s also hiding a secret that could chart a new path for everyone else working in the restaurant.

    Ratatouille is streaming on Hulu.
