Jeannie Mai has returned to dating

The 47-year-old TV star — who finalised her divorce from rapper Jeezy in 2024 — has opened up about her approach to romance in a new YouTube video, revealing that her attitude is markedly different to how it used to be.

Speaking in the video, Jeannie said: “Dating in LA already feels like a full-on sport. Everyone is also emotionally unavailable. This time, I have standards.”

The Daytime Emmy winner has adopted an entirely new mindset when it comes to relationships, vowing to put her own needs first.

Jeannie also insisted she won’t compromise herself for the sake of a man.

She stated: “I’m not trying to be chosen. I’m deciding. I’m deciding if I like me when I’m with you. Am I fully me when I’m with you?”

The presenter admitted that it has been some time since she has felt fully herself around a partner.

She explained: “It’s been a minute since I let somebody see me fully me. Being in my presence is a privilege.”

Jeannie recently documented a solo date in her vlog as part of her new commitment to self-care.

She said: “I’m not shrinking my shine to make someone else comfortable. The most important takeaway is that I will never abandon myself again.”

Meanwhile, Jeannie has spoken candidly about the toll her divorce took on her, describing the experience as one of the most painful of her life.

The TV star admitted that her split from Jeezy had caused her a lot of anguish, likening the situation to “experiencing death alive”.

Jeannie – who married Jeezy in March 2021, before filing for a divorce in 2023 – told the Question Everything podcast: “Divorce is heart-breaking, no matter what. It’s one of the greatest pains that any human has to endure, honestly. Divorce is just — it’s experiencing death alive.”
