    911 dispatch audio reveals the moment Britney Spears was pulled over before her DUI arrest on Wednesday, March 4.

    “Black BMW sedan in and out of lanes … speeding,” an operator could be heard saying, according to audio obtained by Us Weekly on Thursday, March 5. The operator also noted that the black sedan was seen “erratic[ly] braking, swerving and driving with no taillight.”

    An officer driving behind the vehicle on South 101 at Rancho Road identified it as a black 2026 BMW convertible and said, “Can we send all units down towards this area, please?”

    Officers could be heard following the vehicle before pulling it over.

    “Talking with the driver,” another officer said. “Driver is out of the vehicle.”

    Spears, 44, was arrested for driving under the influence near her home in Ventura County, California, on Wednesday, Us Weekly confirmed. She was taken into police custody at 9:28 p.m., according to Ventura County Sheriff’s Office records. Spears was booked on Thursday, March 5, at 3:02 a.m. and subsequently released at 6:07 a.m.

    Spears is due in court on May 4, according to online records.

    “This was an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable,” Spears’ rep told Us in a statement. “Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law, and hopefully this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney’s life. Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time.”

    The “Toxic” singer’s rep added that Spears’ sons, Sean Preston, 20, and Jayden James, 19, “are going to be spending time with her.”

    The statement concluded, “Her loved ones are going to come up with an overdue, needed plan to set her up for success for well-being.”

    According to TMZ, Spears was transported to a hospital by California Highway Patrol to have a blood test in order to determine her blood alcohol content (BAC). The outlet reported that the singer’s BAC level was .06, which is under the legal limit. However, the official results have not been publicly released.

    Spears’ Instagram account appears to have been deactivated following her arrest. In the days before the incident, she uploaded multiple dance videos to her account, including one on Wednesday where she danced to a “song representing fragility.”

    Spears’ arrest comes nearly five years after her conservatorship ended in November 2021. The pop star spoke candidly about her yearslong fight to have the conservatorship terminated in her 2023 memoir, The Woman in Me.

    “I became a robot. But not just a robot — a sort of child-robot. I had been so infantilized that I was losing pieces of what made me feel like myself,” she wrote. “The conservatorship stripped me of my womanhood, made me into a child. I became more of an entity than a person onstage. I had always felt music in my bones and my blood; they stole that from me.”
