Actor Shia LaBeouf, who was recently arrested in New Orleans during a Mardi Gras bar brawl, appeared on an interview with Andrew Callaghan’s Channel 5 to share more of his charming personality with the world.

“I’ll be honest with you, big gay people are scary to me,” he said, blaming someone allegedly “being gay” on his lap for the fight at the bar in Louisiana. “When I’m like standing by myself and three gays are next to me, touching my leg, I get scared. I’m sorry. If that’s homophobic, then I’m that. Yeah.”

“I’m good with gay, [but] be gay over there, though,” he added. “Don’t be gay in my lap.” He also said he doesn’t think he has a drinking problem, despite multiple witnesses reporting that he was belligerent during the bar brawl.
