Kristen Bell went solo at the 2026 Actor Awards on Sunday evening (March 1), as her husband Dax Shepard skipped the annual event this year.
While the 51-year-old actor cheered on his wife’s hosting duties from home, he took to social media to explain his absence.

The reason he didn’t go? He’s preparing for a colonoscopy, which is “an examination of the inside of your large intestine (colon),” per the Cleveland Clinic. This is a routine procedure for middle-aged and older adults.
“#colonoscopyprep,” Dax wrote on his Instagram story, along with a screenshot of instructions of only drinking clear liquids until Monday (March 2), where he can then only have water.
Earlier in the day, Dax captioned a post, teasing Kristen‘s hosting, “CAUTION: DO NOT watch if you’re allergic to effortless charm, tasty wit, velvety vocals, world-class mimicry, high-in-tight buns, timeless beauty or Disney-level Adorability. Also it may be ‘too much’ for those with heart conditions. For everyone else, buckle the f-ck up!!!”
