Shonda Rhimes is speaking out after the death of Grey’s Anatomy star Eric Dane.
Eric passed away at the age of 53 on February 19, 2026 following a battle with ALS, which he announced just 10 months ago.
The following morning, Shonda, 56, who created Grey’s, took to Instagram to pay tribute to the late actor.

“We are grateful for the artistry, spirit, friendship and humanity he shared with us for so many years,” she continued. “Our hearts are with his family, loved ones, and all who were touched by his work.”
Along with her message, Shonda shared a few photos of herself and Eric from over the years.
