Taylor Zakhar Perez has a lot in the works—he just can’t talk about all of it yet. The actor just began filming the highly anticipated sequel to ‘Red, White & Royal Blue’, he’s got plans of his own to adapt other romance novels into scripts, and he’s also prepared for the possibility that everyone will soon be talking about him and his shirtless torso, thanks to his new campaign with Lacoste, which drops today.
ON HEATED RIVALRY: “I saw a lot of the same elements of Red, White in Heated Rivalry. I think they work so well because it wasn’t just about sex, it was so much about intimacy—and we crave intimacy because it’s a lot less fleeting than sex is. I think they told a really beautiful story over a long period of time. That made it very universal. Anyone can watch it and relate to that type of longing that you have for somebody—maybe it’s like a forbidden love—and what you have to do to either overcome that hurdle or just crash into each other and say yes.”
ON RED, WHITE & ROYAL WEDDING “In this one, I think everybody thinks it’s Alex and Henry’s wedding and it’s not. It is [Henry’s sister] Bea’s wedding. We couldn’t do that to the fans. We talked about it and we’re like, ‘What if people tune in thinking that they’re going to be watching our wedding and are so disappointed?’ And so we talked about it with the producers, with Sarah Schechter and Mike McGrath, and she was like, ‘We have to tell them.’ I thought it was the right thing to do.”
