Dermot Mulroney just revealed a major story line taking place on season 2 of The Hunting Wives.
Mulroney, 62, took to Instagram on Wednesday, January 14, to share a photo of him and new cast member John Stamos, writing, “Are we lifers yet? What a life! Great to finally meet @johnstamos, you’ve got my vote for mayor of Hollywood. As long as you #votedforjed welcome to Maplebrook @thehuntingwives #jedfortexas #jedbanksforgovernor #jedandmargot.”
Mulroney’s social media post confirmed his character Jed is running for governor of Texas, which was teased in season 1. Stamos’ role has been kept under wraps so far. News broke in December 2025 that he would be joining the hit series.
During an appearance on the Today show that same month, Stamos, 62, was asked his wife Caitlin McHugh‘s reaction to his casting on the racy show.
“I told my wife I was doing it, and she said, ‘Are you gonna show your penis?’” he recalled. “And I said, ‘I don’t think so.’ But it’s one of those shows.”
When host Craig Melvin asked whether Stamos verified in his scripts that he has no nude scenes, Stamos admitted he hadn’t gotten many details yet.
“Well, we’ll see,” he replied of potential nudity. Stamos has a similar response after appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, saying, “Maybe!”
The Hunting Wives, which premiered in June 2025, is based on May Cobb‘s book of the same name. After originally being filmed for Starz before Lionsgate Television acquired the rights, The Hunting Wives premiered on Netflix, which resulted in viewers getting more racy sex scenes than they might have been expecting.
“[My character] gains power through many different ways. Part of her manipulation is sex, it is sexual and it’s how a lot of people operate in this world and in order to gain control. So when you have that power — and she’s very aware of it — she knows how to use it and she does,” star Malin Åkerman exclusively told Us Weekly when the show debuted. “So I like that about her. That’s what becomes controversial and fun and salacious and saucy, and that’s why we want to watch her.”
Brittany Snow meanwhile, expressed gratitude for how Åkerman, 47, supported her during their NSFW scenes.
“Something really great about Malin too is she’s really, really attuned to what I was thinking or what others were thinking in terms of comfortability,” she shared on the “Not Skinny But Not Fat” podcast in October 2025. “So she was always very aware — [since] she’s Swedish — that she’s more open with nudity. She is still a woman and wants to look good and isn’t just walking around naked. But I was more conscientious about it.”
Snow continued: “She would go like, ‘Do you want me to put my body here so you don’t have to show this part of yourself?’ I was like, ‘This is so selfless and nice.’”
The Hunting Wives is currently streaming on Netflix.
