  • Ever since the series finale of Stranger Things, the show has dominated TikTok, with many people posting their emotional real-time reactions.

“Purple Rain” is now a top trending song. And one thing that came from this is the “I never wanted to be your weekend lover” trend. Sometimes, people post about their situationships, exes, and sneaky links being shitty to them. Others post their boyfriends’ backs in their beds.

  • Beloved food critic Keith Lee went to Destination Smoke House, which went viral for their chef, known as Unc, coming up with the phrase “tenderism” to describe their meat. However, the restauraht turned Lee away before they could say hello to Unc and tip him $5,000.
  • A group of girlfriends took a girls’ trip to Miami on New Year’s Eve. But when they tried to get into a club, the club tried to charge their plus-sized friend $300 to get in. She refused. Her friends offered to pay for her Uber back home so they could get in the club. They were shocked and pissed off when she said, “I’ll get in that Uber, but once I do, we are not friends anymore.” The bitchy, skinny friend posted this to TikTok, then was shocked that no one took her side.

Oh — and, as it turns out, the plus-sized girl got on TikTok to tell her side and it turns out that she is a baddie!

  • There is a clip going viral from the Diary of A CEO podcast in which a psychiatrist says that a generation of men is going extinct because women won’t mate with them and that the government should intervene to help men be able to procreate.
  • Because of the situation in Venezuela, numerous rich people and influencers have been stranded in luxury resorts in Aruba and elsewhere in the Caribbean. They have not gotten much sympathy from TikTok. (If you are a regular person stuck abroad, I feel for you!)
  • This poor girl. She wanted to get her hair two shades lighter. She looked like this:

After her salon appointment, she looked like this.

  • So a line from Fight Club — “You met me at a very strange time in my life” — has become twisted by some TikTok users to be, “You met me at a very Chinese time in my life,” as they do something associated with Chinese culture. Now, people of all races around the world are declaring themselves Newly Chinese.
Two variations of the trend are people with Chinese heritage showing themselves doing something stereotypically Chinese, or white users trying a Chinese activity like drinking soup for breakfast, eating congee, or drinking hot water instead of cold. Chinese users seem to find it amusing yet wholesome.
  • Vile “mommy” TikToker du jour: Shelby Whittaker. She became a foster parent to babies after posting extensively about her infertility. She recently was placed with an infant girl fresh out of the NICU; Shelby posted her husband carrying the baby and wrote, “Finally get to see my husband do the sexy new dad walk.” She also threw herself a baby shower…for the baby who is not hers. Oh, she also posted a TikTok about how upset she was that the baby that she previously almost fostered didn’t have to go into foster care to be with her.
  • “He almost formed a thought:” a trend wherein pet-owners post videos of their dumb-dumb pets seemingly deep in thought.

  • The Staud zodiac bags have been super viral, with people arguing over whether they are cute or ugly.

  • Charli XCX stays trending! Her song, “House,” ft. John Cale has sparked a trend where people post goofy scenes to the dramatic, “I think I’m gonna die in this house” lyrics.
  • Have you made your 2026 punch cards? You make yourself a little punch card for chores or whatever, and when you finish it, you can get yourself a little treat.

Has your pet ever managed to actually form a thought?

    Only about food.
