The social media platform issued a statement on Saturday (January 10) responding to the concern voiced by thousands of people after they received notifications to reset their password, sparking concern and reports of a massive data breach.

“We fixed an issue that let an external party request password reset emails for some people,” Instagram said in a statement. They also confirmed that there was not a data breach, contrary to rumors online.
