Ahead of his upcoming Netflix debut, Marcello Hernández may have just given fans a rare glimpse into his personal life — or at least sparked plenty of wedding speculation.
On January 5, the Saturday Night Live standout shared a black-and-white video montage that showed him getting ready for what looked suspiciously like a wedding day. The clips featured Marcello smiling alongside his mother and close friends, set to Willie Hutch’s romantic song “I Choose You.”
Did Marcello Hernandez Actually Get Married?
His girlfriend — or possibly now wife — Ana Amelia Batlle Cabral previously raised eyebrows in December when she shared an Instagram carousel that included photos from what appeared to be wedding dress shopping. Though she wasn’t wearing a gown herself, fans quickly speculated it could be a subtle “yes to the dress” moment. Between Ana’s post and Marcello’s recent video, followers flooded the comedian’s comments asking whether he had just quietly tied the knot.
For now, Marcello is keeping the focus on his career. His first stand-up special, American Boy, premieres on Netflix on Wednesday, January 7. “MY FIRST NETFLIX SPECIAL. I started comedy at 18 in Cleveland, Ohio at dive bars, small clubs, and poetry slam rooms. 10 years later, stand up has given me everything. If you’ve ever been to a show, put me on a show, given me advice, or supported me in any way, THANK YOU. AMERICAN BOY JAN 7TH ON @netflix 🇺🇸👦🏻,” he wrote on Instagram.
That being said, it’s unclear if Marcello actually tied the knot or his recent Instagram is just promo for his upcoming special.
While Marcello may be coy about his love life, one thing’s clear: he’s off the market.
The comedian made his relationship with Ana public in July 2025 when the pair stepped out together at the New York City premiere of Happy Gilmore 2, in which Marcello appears as Esteban. He hasn’t shared when they started dating or how they met, though celebrity gossip site DeuxMoi reported that the two were spotted having dinner together at NYC hotspot Marea as early as January 2025.
So, who exactly is Ana Amelia Batlle Cabral?
Ana is an architect based in New York City, though she attended high school in the Dominican Republic, according to her LinkedIn. Marcello also shares a connection to the DR — his father was born and raised there.
After moving to the U.S., Ana earned a bachelor’s degree in architecture from the Savannah College of Art and Design in 2018, with minors in business, architectural history and electronic design. She later received her master’s degree in architecture from Yale University in 2023.
She currently works as an architect at Taller Frida Escobedo, an architecture and planning studio with offices in Mexico City and New York. Ana is also the co-founder of BATLLE + sig, a design company she launched with her Yale classmate Signe Ferguson.
“It was 2020, in the midst of the COVID pandemic,” Ana told Speciwomen in January 2025. “Signe invited me over for dinner. I started cooking and reading books with her, and we became close friends. Because the school was closed down, we made our studios within our homes.”
She added that “almost every project of ours explores irony in some way — using an everyday material that isn’t normally appreciated, questioning sacred ritual versus corporate capital.”
When she’s not designing, Ana loves to travel. She studied abroad in France during college and has since explored countries including Austria, Mexico, Italy, Greenland and Tanzania.
“We have this saying at [BATLLE + sig], ‘si a todo’ — ‘yes to everything,’” she said. “Let’s bring it in, let’s explore, let’s research.”
