21 years ago, Amerie aka Queen of Blasia released ‘1 Thing, here are some fun facts:
- It peaked at #8, the only other Amerie song to make the top 40 is her debut single ‘Why Don’t We Fall in Love’
- Amerie’s lower back korean tattoo is visible in the MV, its just her name in Korean
- The labels didn’t believe in the track and she and her manager reworked it several times to no avail
- They leaked the song to radio stations where it started gaining steam
- Her label tried to suppress it as it was an unofficial release and also because JLo (surprise surprise) wanted the song
- Her label caved and began promoting it, also making it a last minute edition to the soundtrack for ‘Hitch’
- JLo settled for similar track called ‘Get Right’ which Usher wanted to release for himself but that’s a different story
