Chappell Roan is now responding to her post about the death of Brigitte Bardot.
If you don’t know, the 27-year-old “Pink Pony Club” singer posted a message mourning the loss of the 91-year-old, saying, “She was my inspiration for red wine supernova. Rest in peace Ms. Bardot ♡.”
However, it quickly gained backlash. Bardot was not without major controversy, some of which includes: in 2018, she denounced the #MeToo movement. The BBC reports that she was “fined multiple times for inciting racial hatred” and said “homophobic slurs.”
Now, Chappell is posting an update.

In a new post to her Instagram Story, Chappell wrote, “Holy sh-t I did not know all that insane sh-t Ms. Bardot stood for.”
