“That’s Lotus and Ruby [the dog],” she continued. “She is, that’s her dad — my grandson, Mason.”
“He looks in love,” co-host Sunny Hostin said as Whoopi jokingly responded, “Yeah, that’ll change.”
“It’s a wonderful thing,” the Sister Act actress then added. “It’s a wonderful thing. This is my second.”
Mason, 27, is the son of Whoopi‘s only child, daughter Alex Martin, whom the Ghost actress shares with first husband Alvin Martin. Along with Mason, Alex, 51, also has two daughters – Amara, 36, and Jersey, 29 – with husband Bernard Dean.
Co-host Ana Navarro then congratulated Alex for becoming a grandma again.
“And congratulations to Alex, who is a grandmother again,” Ana said.
“I don’t think about that, I simply think about myself,” Whoopi added. “Cause I never thought I’d have two great-grandkids. To be there for that.”
Whoopi first became a great-grandmother in 2014 when her granddaughter Amara welcomed a daughter named Charli Rose.
When asked by her co-hosts what the grandkids call her, Whoopi answered, “They call me Whoopi — cause I’m not the grandma! I’m the great grandma! So just Whoopi.”
She continued, “She couldn’t say her Ws, so I was ‘Oopi’ for the longest time. So we’ll see. But I think this one, she’s ready to get stuff done.”
In an interview from back in September, Whoopi addressed the possibility of retiring.
