Former Michigan-based doctor Oumair Aejaz has been sentenced to serve between 35 to 60 years in prison on sexual misconduct charges after he was caught secretly recording his wife, their two minor children and female relatives.
Aejaz, 41, received his sentencing during a hearing at Oakland County Sixth Circuit Court in Michigan on Tuesday, December 2. He pleaded no contest to all 31 counts of sexual misconduct pressed against him, according to a statement from the case’s prosecutors.
“This sentence ensures Oumair Aejaz will never again harm another victim,” Prosecuting Attorney Karen D. McDonald said in the statement. “However, the damage he inflicted upon his victims will not go away with this resolution. We must continue to support them as they move forward from this trauma.”
Aejaz previously worked at Ascension Genesys Hospital in Grand Blanc Township, Michigan and at Henry Ford Hospital Macomb in Clinton Township, Michigan, according to CBS Detroit.

Prosecutors explained that he was convicted of two counts of First Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct, three counts of Second Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct, four counts of Child Sexually Abusive Commercial Activity, 13 counts of Using a Computer to Commit a Crime and nine counts of Capturing/Distributing an Image of an Unclothed Person.
“I applaud Judge Anderson’s sentencing decision and the Prosecutor’s efforts to hold this sick individual fully to account,” Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard said in a statement. “The exploitation of women and children—especially in some cases when he used his trusted position as a physician—is absolutely unconscionable.”
Bouchard added, “This sentence reflects the gravity of his crimes and delivers the justice these victims deserve. I also want to recognize the great work of the detectives and our computer crimes unit for the tireless and successful work in locating evidence to make this sentence possible.”
The investigation into Aejaz began in August 2024 after his wife provided evidence that he had been secretly recording her, as well as their two young children and several of their female family members while they were in their home.
CBS Detroit reported that investigators learned that Aejaz also recorded children and adults with hidden cameras in other venues, including Goldfish Swim School in Rochester Hills, Michigan and in hospital rooms and bedrooms.
Additionally, the prosecutors’ press release revealed that several investigations are still being conducted regarding the former doctor.
Three different women filed three separate lawsuits against Aejaz in October, alleging that he recorded and sexually assaulted them at Henry Ford Hospital, according to CBS News. The women claimed that they filed reports with the hospital, though they said nothing was done in response.
“There is a class action ongoing, but these people felt that their rights were not adequately represented, and they wanted individual claims,” Fieger Law attorney Matthew Piccirilli, who is representing the accusers, told CBS on October 27.
In response to the allegations, Henry Ford Hospital said in a statement to CBS News, “We are deeply committed to ensuring and supporting the safety of our patients and team members, and we prioritize their safety in everything we do. However, we do not comment on pending litigation.”
