Former Home Improvement star Zachery Ty Bryan has been arrested for the sixth time in five years alongside his fiancée, Johnnie Faye Cartwright.

Bryan, 44, was taken into police custody on Saturday, November 29 in Eugene, Oregon for allegedly violating his probation from his prior domestic violence conviction, according to jail records viewed by Life & Style.

The former child star is currently being held without bail at Lane County Jail. He is scheduled to be released on Wednesday, December 3.

Cartwright was also arrested and booked at the same jail, where she is facing five charges that include one count of driving under the influence, three counts of reckless endangering and one count of attempted first-degree assault. Cartwright is still in custody as of Monday, December 1, according to the jail records viewed by Life & Style.

It is not currently clear if Bryan or Cartwright have legal representation at this time.

Bryan has a long history of legal issues. He was most recently arrested in January when he faced second-degree domestic violence charges from Myrtle Beach police in South Carolina.

The police report said that a woman “stated that she was assaulted” by Bryan and that the two “live together and have children in common,” according to People.

The woman told the arresting officer that Bryan “choked her and punched her in the face multiple times,” adding that there were “others” involved who were “inside the home during the incident.”

The victim of the incident has not been publicly named, though he was in a relationship with Cartwright at the time and they share three children. The outcome of the case is not currently known.

One year earlier, Bryan was arrested once in February 2024 and a second time in October 2024 on DUI charges.

Bryan was charged with fourth-degree felony assault, third-degree robbery and misdemeanor harassment in 2023. He pleaded guilty to felony assault in the fourth degree and was sentenced to serve seven days in jail, Lane County’s chief deputy district attorney Chris Parosa confirmed to People.

The district attorney added that Bryan’s second count was dismissed as a term of a “negotiated resolution.” While he could have faced 19 to 20 months in jail, Parosa said he received a “downward dispositional departure to 36 months of supervised probation, 7 days jail, standard domestic violence conditions, no contact with the victim without the probation officer’s approval.”

Bryan’s probation sentence in connection to the 2023 arrest does not expire until October 2026, according to KEZI.

He was also arrested in 2020 for allegedly strangling his then-girlfriend at a home in Oregon. Byran pleaded guilty to two domestic violence misdemeanor charges and he was sentenced to serve 36 months of probation, according to People.

Bryan is best known for starring on all eight seasons of Home Improvement at Brad Taylor, while he has also acted in episodes of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Veronica Mars, Boston Public and Center of the Universe.
