Gypsy Rose Blanchard shared a surprising discovery she made with her Instagram followers this week — one that ties directly back to her traumatic childhood.

In a new video that she shared with her followers on Instagram, the 34-year-old revealed that she recently came across the old prescription pad her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard, had stolen years ago.

Unsure what to do with it, Gypsy said she turned to Google for guidance. The search results suggested she could bring it to a pharmacy for proper disposal, so she decided to follow through.

She then filmed herself walking up to the counter at a pharmacy, where she hands the prescription pad to the pharmacist. You can hear Gypsy say, “I was going through a box of old photos and this is like 15 years old. My mom had stolen this from a hospital and I wanted to turn it in.”

The pharmacist replied, “Ok, we will shred it for you.”

In the Instagram post she also included a look inside that box — a stack of snapshots from her early years — showing exactly where the prescription book had been tucked away.

To accompany the clip, Blanchard included a caption giving more context behind the moment.

“In my documentaries, it was mentioned that my mother stole a prescription pad from a children’s hospital,” she wrote. “I recently found it in a box of old photos, so I brought it to be disposed of. Another healing moment marked 👍.”

On November 23, Gypsy shared a series of childhood photos along with a lengthy caption about her childhood.

She wrote, “Looking back at these photos at 34. I see a childhood that bounced between truly normal moments and others that never fully made sense. Some, but NOT ALL of the medical situations were necessary but others were created, exaggerated, or pushed onto me in ways no child could understand. This is what Munchausen by proxy can look like, smiles one day, hospital beds the next, and a childhood spent surviving what was never real such as cancer.”

Gypsy’s story first gained national attention after the 2015 murder of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard. Investigators later uncovered that Dee Dee had spent years fabricating illnesses and disabilities for Gypsy, subjecting her to unnecessary medical treatments, surgeries, and strict control throughout her childhood.

In an attempt to escape the abuse, Gypsy conspired with her then-boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn, who ultimately stabbed Dee Dee to death.

Gypsy pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in 2016 and served eight years in prison before being released in December 2023.

Since her release, Gypsy has starred in two seasons of Gypsy Rose: Life After Lockup, giving fans a glimpse into her life post-prison. She now shares a daughter with her boyfriend, Ken Urker.
