Corey Feldman is back in the Dancing With the Stars ballroom and soaking up his time with the season 34 cast — despite making claims about the behind-the-scenes environment being “toxic.”
“OOOH YEA BACK N THE GAME #LOVE !!!” Feldman, 54, wrote via Instagram on Saturday, November 22. “NOT REALLY, BUT BACK 4 A HOT SEC, 1ST OFF HAPPY 22 DAY #EVERYBODY & I HAD A FUN REUNION W THE CAST & CREW OF @dancingwiththestars #DWTS & IT WAS DEF FUN DANCING 2DAY W @jennajohnson AGAIN, & HANGING W MY NEW FRIEND @iambarondavis WHO GOT SOME MOVES YALL NEVER GOT 2 C SADLY. & HIS BEAUTIFUL PARTNER @brittbenae.”
Feldman claimed that he and Baron Davis, who were the first two season 34 contestants to leave the show, were talking about how they both wanted more time to “entertain the audiences.” Feldman noted that he and Davis, 46, were “glad” to be back and are “rooting” for all of the “awesome” people still in the competition.
“HOWEVER I HAV MY OWN PERSONAL PREDICTION WHICH I HAD SINCE DAY 1, HOW THIS WOULD ALL PLAY OUT, SO FAR IM RIGHT ON THE $,” he wrote. “BUT WE SHALL C WHEN IT ALL COMES DOWN ON TUE NIGHT LIVE ON @abc AND IF U WATCH REAL CLOSE U MAY EVEN C ME MOON WALK BY, OR SPIN ACROSS THE SCREEN REAL QUICK A FEW TIMES. WHO KNOWS?! BUT NJOY THE SHOW! 🙏🏼❤️⏰😜💣#SEASONFINALE #MUSTCTV #DONTMISSIT #DONTVOTE4ME.”
Alongside the message, Feldman shared a selfie featuring the former child star underneath a DWTS sign, and another image of the actor posing with former partner Jenna Johnson as well as Davis and his former partner, Britt Stewart.
That same day, Feldman made headlines when he claimed there was a “toxic” behind-the-scenes culture at DWTS.
“There was a lot of stupidity in the mudslinging that went on behind the scenes,” Feldman said in a preview for an upcoming episode of the Guvery’s Law radio show, which was obtained by The Daily Mail. “Actually, there everything was great. But the behind-the-scenes drama and BS that people throw around the show, I’ve never seen anything like it. It’s the worst, like, most toxic.”
He continued, “On the set everybody gets along. Everybody’s great. Everybody’s happy. You’re working hard. You don’t have time to look up. You’re just working.”
While the season aired in September, Johnson’s brother-in-law Maksim Chmerkovskiy claimed that she was having a “difficult time” with Feldman. (Johnson tied the knot with Maks’ brother, Val Chmerkovskiy in 2019.)
Feldman continued on the show, “You start reading these things in the paper, like, ‘This person’s mad at this person. These people aren’t talking to each other.’ Or, ‘Are people working hard enough?’ ‘Corey Feldman destroyed the show. He destroyed the whole show because he was such an egomaniac it’s so difficult to work with.’ ”
Feldman alleged that he asked Johnson, 31, about the report and claimed that she rolled her eyes and said, “’Oh it’s just Maks. Don’t pay attention to him. He just wants attention.’ I was like, ‘Oh my God.’”
Us Weekly reached out to ABC for comment at the time.
Feldman went on to clarify his comments in a statement to People on Saturday, noting that he wants to “make it absolutely clear” that his time on DWTS “has been positive.”
“Everyone associated with the show — from my fellow cast members to the pros, crew and production team — has treated me with nothing but kindness, support and respect,” he said. “The issues I was referring to have nothing to do with the show itself. They relate to the outside commentary, rumors and individuals who are no longer directly involved with DWTS but still feel entitled to weigh in and create unnecessary drama.”
He continued, “I’m looking forward to getting back to rehearsals this week and can’t wait to dance with Jenna again. The DWTS family has been wonderful, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to be part of it.”
The DWTS season 34 finale airs on ABC and Disney+ Tuesday, November 25, at 8 p.m. ET, with the episode streaming the next day on Hulu.
