Shay Mitchell announced a skincare called Rini, aimed for kids 3 and up. The announcement immediately faced backlash.
The actress appeared on the Today show on Wednesday and defended her new skincare line. Shay said that she understands the backlash and concern but sees this line as a way for parents to spend time with their kids.
“Kids don’t look at masks and think about fixing, they think about it being a cooling sensation and a shared moment.”
Shay added that she doesn’t think kids need face masks (???) and that they are not really necessary, but adults can use them for “comfort and hydration.”
“I also don’t think masks are necessary for us. But are they great for added comfort and extra hydration? Yes ― and that’s all it is,” she said.
