Nick Jonas is opening up about life as a father and how his daughter Malti has changed everything.
“My parents went from having four boys to now having five granddaughters,” Nick told Parents in a November interview, revealing he loves being a girl dad, calling it “the best thing in the world.”
Jonas shares his daughter, Malti, with his wife, Priyanka Chopra, and says stepping into fatherhood has reshaped the way he approaches both life and work.
“A little girl, especially mine, has a wonder in her eyes. My daughter’s imagination inspires me. It’s a magical thing,” the “Sucker” singer shared. Nick also revealed he’s learning just as much from her as she is from him.
“As she continues to grow, learn, and question more, I love when I have to take a step back and think, ‘Oh yeah, why is this thing like that?’ Having to articulate the ‘why’ to my daughter has become profound for me as a parent. I’m trying to be really thoughtful and measured.”
The 33-year-old reflected on how surreal it feels to look out into the crowd during shows and see fans who have been with the Jonas Brothers since the early days — fans now around the same age as him and his brothers.
“There’s a moment in the show, a few songs in, where we find young people holding up signs that say, ‘THIS IS MY FIRST CONCERT.’” These first-timers are often the kids of longtime fans, creating a full-circle moment.
“Now their kids are singing songs that came out 10–15 years before they were even born. That’s a really cool feeling. Our dad raised us on all his favorite music, and now we’re seeing that happen with our fans.”
Nick is equally excited about the brothers’ new family-friendly holiday movie, A Very Jonas Christmas Movie, that was released November 14.
“It’s just a bucket-list item for us, and I couldn’t be more proud of what came out of it. It’s a movie for the entire family that touches on real sibling and family dynamics. It has all the classic feels of a great holiday film with some amazing cameos. It’s a really fun ride.”
This year has basically been Jonas Brothers overload in the best way possible. They started things off filming a Christmas movie in Toronto and rolled straight into a packed summer tour.
Good thing they actually love hanging out together.
“We really are each other’s best friends,” Nick says. “It’s really special when we’re able to get all the family together and celebrate a holiday. We even all went on vacation together before we started our tour. It just shows that having that time together means a lot to us, and as our kids spend time together too, it makes it even more meaningful.”
